I haven’t seen anyone else talking about this and it’s about to drive me crazy.

I hate that Raja won Season 3 of Drag Race, for exactly the above reasons. I understand that high fashion especially has always appropriated other cultures, but for someone in the position Raja is in, someone who is able to speak out against appropriation of cultures and racism, for him to continue “dressing up” and costuming himself as Hindu deities and native peoples really really bothers me.

It pisses me off.

I know a lot of people think “oh it’s just fashion, lighten up” and whatnot, but NO. NO IT IS NOT. People are not costumes. Gods are not costumes. If I was Hindu, I would be so fucking mad about Raja’s outfit for the Season 5 reunited episode, because it’s pretty obviously Krishna.

Now I also understand that Raja is Indonesian and Dutch, but still. The Hindu deity costume offends me. Coming out dressed up as a Native American offends me. Coming out dressed as an African tribesperson offends me. And I’m not even going to touch on all the problems in Drag Race like white and brown people essentially doing blackface for stuff like Snatch Game (which again, Raja did Tyra Banks, which is costuming himself as a black person).

I firmly believe that for all of us to be liberated (women, LGBTQI, black people, brown people, native people, etc.) from patriarchy and from white cis heteronormative oppression, we have to band together. We must be intersectional. We cannot do that if we go around costuming ourselves as other races and as other people’s Gods.

Would you tell a painter to not paint others races that he may or may not be apart of? Would you be less offended if Raja dressed up as a white woman with big blonde hair (like most Drags Queens)? No that would be offensive to white woman. But he’s dressing as a woman so is that offense to? Would it be less offensive if he was a transsexual? This seems like the very same things as saying a woman wanted to get raped cause of wore a short tight fitting dress. You do need to calm down and let people live there lives accordingly. You could be right or you could be way off in your stance of Patriarchy in the same ways Raja’s Hindu god inspired drag can be seen as art or racism. Everyday people assume they are correct. I don’t think people should live there lives being at war with “white men” we all have so many races in us we call could possibly be every race. And people not taking bits and pieces from other races I think we’d be completely separated. We can pick what’s okay and what’s not but in the future will it matter? Black face was purely making fun of another whole race made to be a joke made to entertain one race. I’m getting ahead of myself here but Gods are fucking characters. Greek Gods are the hugest example. I would not be offended if someone dress up as Jesus, even if it was tasteless like a sloppy drunk Jesus or something. My mom says she stresses so much to take her kids stress away, I’m like no mom you can’t take anyone’s stress away you’re only stressing more than you should. That makes me think of you, you said you’d be super offended if you were Hindu…we’ll you’re not, you don’t have to be. Yeah you’re “allied” whatever but is a winner of drag race that powerful? If anything I want to research hindu gods are learn more about them, and it’s as if a real one came down from the Heaven and it’s actually really inspiring to want to learn more about the Hindu Gods.

sidenote: Raja’s skin tone matches Tyra’s if not her’s is lighter who is he doing black face? Is it because she’s black? The Snatch Game is not about parodying a race it’s about impersonating a character the character famous people also put on for the media. Just think how many people are Marilyn Monroe, her persona is now a character. Her race isn’t but her image and personality is. Pale skin, curly blonde hair, smoky high voice, red lips. You wouldn’t even need to do the skin cause it’s obvious once the hair is done.

This is a photo of my amazing parents. I realize today is mother’s day, but you see, my mother and father are one. Daddy is no longer with us, in this realm.He lives vividly in our hearts and dances through an energy we can not comprehend with our limited earthly minds.
Mommy and I have had a typically staggered, flamboyant gay son, to strong ruling queen mother, relationship. Rocky and roller coaster to say the least. Now in my adult life I see her journey as a woman with empathy and more love than I knew I would ever have for her.
I write this with glossy eyes, because my heart leaps out of my chest when I think of her, of them. My parents have provided me with the template of love I’m afraid I will never experience.
I have so many goals in my life I will achieve, and I know my parents support me 100%. Unfortunately they set the bar so high for me in the love department, I’ve had to modify and compromise to feel only a fraction of the intensity of love they had.
My mom is not my facebook friend, because I am delusional. I haven’t invited her, so she isn’t tagged in this post. In my mind, not inviting her here somehow filters her from seeing my drunken, gogo dancer tipping, lust fueled, cross dressing, debaucherous life.
As we know… Mom’s always know.

She still can’t be my facebook friend, but I’m glad now I am 39…
and my mom is now my real life friend.

Happy mother’s day mommy, I’ll read you this post from my iPhone when I get over there in a bit. Don’t start lunch without me. Also, I didn’t get you a greeting card, because this is waaaay better.

I’ve been wanting to get my shoulders tattooed for a while, as beforehand I’ve only had a piece on my back. Today was finally the day as I’ve added what I hope to be the first of two. It’s still pretty fresh, so do be aware.

My paleness is impeding showing off the shading a bit but maybe a zoom out…

hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.

also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.

anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!

This is the best way to make them at home, the most signature part of the flavor of White Castles is actually their onion flavor and this reproduces it almost exactly.

1.5 pounds 80/20 ground beef

1 package onion soup mix

1 small onion, very finely chopped

1 dill pickle, sliced as thin as possible

mustard/ketchup (if you want to feel authentic mix them together and then spread them on the bun)

12 soft dinner rolls (I like the Sara Lee ones)

Good quality American Cheese sliced

Mix the ground beef and onion soup mix in a bowl. Spread the ground beef on a 12-15” cookie sheet. Use a rolling pin (or cover with parchment paper and flatten by hand) on the ground beef to flatten it out to about 1/4-1/2 inch thick.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Take out and pour off grease. Spread diced onions along the edge of the sheet so they touch the sheet where the ground meat has shrunk away from.

Bake for 15 more minutes then spread the onions evenly on top of the ground beef and layer with cheese slices. Bake another 6 minutes to melt cheese. While waiting slice your dinner rolls and wrap them all in a damp paper towel. Microwave them in the paper towel for 60 seconds to steam them. (You can also load them in a tortilla warmer instead of a paper towel if you have one.) Spread out the top buns and add mustard and ketchup on them just before you are ready to remove the ground beef from the oven.

Take it out of the oven. Spread as many pickles as you like on top of the cheese. Arrange the top buns on the ground beef to make hamburgers. Slice the ground beef between the buns with a pizza cutter and pick up the top bun and burger with a spatula and set it on the bottom bun.

Holy Crap, you just made fresh White Castles at home! Enjoy!
